Christian Moeller was commissioned by IKEA to create an artwork for its new store in Burbank, California. Moeller’s sculpture, Bobble, is a riff on the home furnishings and decorative objects synonymous with the IKEA brand. Part anthropomorphic figure part decorative vase, the sculpture greets the public with its gently bobbing head made possible through a well-calculated counterweight situated at the end of the yellow head-like form. Moeller worked with Carlson Arts LLC in bringing his concept into its mature and complete physical presence.
Moeller and Carlson Arts LLC brought Bobble to El Mirage Dry Lake to photograph it in an austere environment and capture a video of its response to predictable windy conditions.
